Brandon Routh as Superman
jmk_superman1.jpg

Here is my latest project, a Brandon Routh Superman from the new major motion picture "Superman Returns."

I'm using the BBI Chinese MIG Pilot that was previously used for my Indiana Jones. The clothes are from the Mattel Superman Ken doll. For the head, I used Mattel's "Ultimate Powers" Superman 12" figure. The figure cost $27, which is an awful lot of money for just a head. But it was my best and only choice. I repainted the boots the other day with a clear red acrylic after seeing pictures of the Hot Toys Superman. This gives it the right look that it had in the movie. I also, with Ben's help, found the original head from the Chinese MIG Pilot. From that, I used the neck.

And now the cape. Ben has inherited the sewing gene I'm afraid. But luckily he is eager to please and very generous. Not only did he pick out the right materials from Wal-Mart while I was home, sick in bed, but he put it all together using some burgundy vinyl and silky red cloth. It's quite amazing and resembles the cape in the movie beyond my expectations. Like always, Ben has made a great piece of 1/6 scale clothing.

Finally, the head. Les Walker was very generous and offered to paint it for me. After mutilating the figure to get the head off, I sent him the head, hands, and neck. He was able to extend the head to connect to the neck. He also made it poseable at the jaw, so that he can look up (to the sky!). He did a truely amazing job. Be sure to check out his site when you're gone here. You'll find it in our Customizer Links section.
