Indy from The Last Crusade

new whip!

Like Ben's Indy, mine is a "movie specific" figure. There are very few differences between the costumes in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." The major, in this case, is the gun. In "Raiders" Indiana carries a Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector (with a custom, shorter-cut barrel). In "Last Crusade" he carries a Webley Mark VI. I got the Webley loose from a Frank Black (X-Files) figure from Toy Anxiety. It's a much larger revolver and requires a larger holster. I made my own holster out of the vinyl material used for Boba Fett's belt. Ben later made one out of stem tape. I wasn't happy with either of them. So, Ben made another using the design of his and my vinyl. When it was done, it was colored black using a Sharpie. Ben later made another holster from a lighter, thinner vinyl. To see how accurate these items are, click on the picture of the real gun below.

The whip holder was also made from leather, and the whip was made from a brown wire shoelace.

And last, but not least, the hat. I bought it from the eBay seller who sold me an Eddie Murphy head. It is made of latex rubber and Ben added the ribbon with medical tape (not the gauze).

UPDATE (9-10-06): Ben and I recently ordered two web belts (the top one) from Toy Soldier Brigade. One for my Indiana and one for Ben's. Ben painted the cloth part of the belt (on his) a darker brown, and mine doesn't need to be painted. So, look for Ben's now on his page. And mine should be up soon. As soon as I get the head and body. Stay tuned.

UPDATE (9-16-06): I received the body a few days ago and the NewLine boots came today! I ordered the head a while ago and it was sent to our old address. But it should be here soon.

UPDATE (9-24-06): The Relic Hunter that I ordered has arrived, here in Rockwood, TN. But it was too big to fit in the maild box and is currently at the Post Office. I won't be able to get it until Monday, but when I do I'll automatically post some pictures. I have still yet to receive the Toys McCoy head recast, which comes on a cheap, flimsy body so that it can be sold as a figure. Pictures to come soon!

UPDATE (9-28-06): The Relic Hunter is here! It was picked up Monday, and I have just now found time to update the site. As you'll see in the pictures, it changes the figure by 95%, at the least. The head has yet to arrive, but aside from that, he really is about done. In fact there are very few things left to do. I am not happy with the color of the bag. It's green. It really should be more of a tan.

I used the jacket, gun belt, shirt, pants, and bag from the Relic Hunter. The rest is a compilation of several different figures and handmade items.

UPDATE (10-5-06): The Toys McCoy Indiana Jones head recast has arrived. It came yesterday and I immeadiately connected it to the BBI G2 neck. I took pictures yesterday and today. I think it turned out well.

UPDATE (10-11-06): A couple of days ago I repainted Indy's hat a slightly lighter, redder brown color and dry-brushed the ribbon. The ribbon was sort of a gloss black. It now looks dirtier and much more accurate. Just a little difference, but at least worth an update.

UPDATE (10-15-06): I drybrushed Indy's jacket with a caramel color to give it that aged, weathered leather. I'm also now using the Relic Hunter's whip holder, but I sewed it to a better fit. The only other thing that was done was Ben added a needle into the handle of the whip, just like his.

Ben's is currently working on the necktie that Indy wore in the Castle Brunwald.

Update (1-28-07): After much procrastination, I've finally added a picture of Ben's tie. Since Ben, at the time, liked to paint fabric, he painted a white tie that he hand-sewed. It was then tied in a normal fashion ("half windsor" I believe).

Also, several months ago, my Indy was put on a BBI G3.5 body. I failed to mention this. You'll also see a Grail Diary made by the ever professional Mark Poon. You should be able to pick one up on eBay.

UPDATE (7-31-07): I've repainted the head. I'm really proud of the eyes. New pictures!

UPDATE (8-15-07): I repainted the jacket a few days ago with a lighter brown. I then painted the chest to match the head. Also, Ben made a new gun belt.

UPDATE (11-22-08): I repainted the head some time ago. The whip was purchased off eBay. Ben made a new holster, as well.

Indy also has a new Webley that opens. I will take pictures of it later.

The Holy Grail and Cross of Coronado are out of the crates of the 3 3/4" Indiana Jones figures.

New hat! Made of a better rubber material.
